Searching for mules on Tumblr reveals what I am sure is only the tiptoe of the foot fetish iceberg, one that you may or may not already know much about, whatever’s your thing. Mules are the kinky heels of choice. They are undeniably sexy with some ensembles, revealing and elongating the pretty ankle, although they can also become super practical with a chunky heel and skinny jean and sweater styling. Do you wear the peep-toe or the point? Stiletto or block heel? I have only included pencil-thin heels in the mule mash up below, because they are the best kind. Imagine them with short dresses in the summer time. They are the perfect poolside pal: slip on like flip-flops with your bikini and kimono = look instantly steamy and dreamy as hell. The block heel mule is great for “every day” but they’re no fun/upsetting to look at.

The mule trend often verges beautifully on tacky and reminds me of American bombshells. Let us welcome the mule revival with toes pointed at the ready.
